Villa Skogsglänta

A modern house in the forests of northern Skåne

Nestled between the forest and open landscapes of northern Skåne lies Villa Skogsglänta. Here, on a plot where the forest opens up to a meadow, Studio Paredes has designed a 170 m² villa shaped in harmony with the site’s natural conditions. The house rests beside a winding country road, framed by the deep greenery of the forest. It is a house that both blends in and makes its mark—a modern interpretation of the traditional Skåne barn, where minimalist lines meet traditional materials.

Openness and togetherness in everyday life

The first floor of the villa is optimized for movement and togetherness. The open floor plan allows the kitchen and living room to flow seamlessly through the house, with generous windows leading to the spacious terrace, blurring the boundary between indoors and outdoors. The kitchen serves as the heart of the home—a place where the family gathers around the kitchen island.

The entrance hall is spacious and functional, with the staircase from the upper floor elegantly descending into the room. A separate section of the ground floor accommodates a guest room with its own WC, ensuring privacy for both the family and visitors. The laundry room is well-sized, combining storage, utilities, and workspace.

Spatial variation under the roof

On the upper floor, a new dimension of the house unfolds. A large family room with skylights allows the light to shift throughout the day, creating a space for both work and relaxation. It is a flexible area—a room for children’s play, homework, or evening reading under the eaves.

The master bedroom features a French balcony and a walk-in closet. The house’s bathroom is an experience in itself: a skylight above the bathtub opens up to the night sky, allowing bathers to gaze up at the stars. Two additional smaller bedrooms are also located on this floor, each with its own window framing the forest’s greenery.

Sustainable materials for a timeless expression

Villa Skogsglänta is a modern interpretation of the classic barn, where symmetry and harmony guide its proportions. The facade is clad in red-painted, heat-treated wood, resilient to the changing climate of northern Skåne while allowing the house to age with dignity. The architecture is simple yet carefully crafted, with calm facades balanced by sharp lines and subtle details.
