Holiday home in Bureå

A house by the water

Located by a sheltered bay in Bureå, just outside Skellefteå, this holiday home was designed by Studio Paredes – in a landscape where the northern forests meet the Bothnian Bay. The house is carefully positioned to make the most of the view over the water, following the site’s natural orientation and character.

Spaces for rest and focus

With a total area of 123 m², the holiday home was designed according to the client’s wishes – compact yet flexible, with room for both relaxation and work. The layout is efficient while still offering generous spatial qualities. Large glass openings frame the sea view and allow the surrounding nature to become an integral part of everyday life.

An open heart to the outdoors

The central living room opens up to the ridge and features sliding glass doors that connect the interior to the terrace and the view. A fireplace placed in the middle brings the space together, creating a warm focal point for social gatherings, long dinners, and evening conversations. Despite its compact footprint, the house feels spacious, bright, and open.

Materials that match the spirit of the place

The façade is clad in black metal sheeting in modular widths – a robust, low-maintenance material. The dark color helps the house blend into the landscape while maintaining a strong presence in the northern setting. The wooden cladding of the terrace provides contrast and creates a warm, welcoming transition between the house and its surroundings – a place for afternoon coffee in the sun or quiet evenings overlooking the sea.
